Inhabit the Body

Yoga shows you how to inhabit your body and find presence and peace within it. That is why yoga means to “yoke” and the meeting that is happening within is the meeting of the mind, spirit, AND the body. 

Yoga shows us how to inhabit the body, meaning most of us are out of touch with our body. What happens in the mind shows up in the body, and what happens in the body is often tuned out by the mind. By learning to inhabit the body, you deepen the connection of your mind and self awareness. Yoga helps to tune into your body’s intelligence. There’s the term gut feeling , but each part of our body has meridians and points that all give out signals to communicate what is occurring within. 

Pranayam or breath work allows the tuning fork to quiet the mind and allow the body’s intelligence to take over. Pranayam helps to deepen the asana experience. Never allow your mind to force a posture, instead allow the breath to reach all parts of the body and guide your practice.
