Beauty Golden Girl
So my girl Miyah did my hair and she ate with these boho cornrows!! đ
Book your appointment with her here!
Normally when I get braids, I like to get red ombrĂ© but this time I did GOLD and Iâm in love! I feel so beauty golden girl (like Marty & Missy) in this hair! I love to emphasize it with gold jewelry and soft, neutral tones like this tan dress.
These photos were from the night Kyria and I went to see New Blue Sun live!
đ
it was an incredible experience.
The show kicked off with Sudan Archives, and from the moment she stepped on stage, I was captivated. She wore a frilly forest-green dress, like a nymph emerging from the woods to welcome us into a world of magic and chaos. As a singer, violinist, and all-around creative badass, Sudan Archives was pure inspiration. Her performance lit a fire in me, reminding me of my own untamed spirit. Seeing her up there made me realize how much Iâve been holding back creatively, how I am ready to fully step into my creative power.
Then, New Blue Sun came out making their sacred noise. The crowd was highly charged with anticipation. Then came the best surprise.
We were gifted with a surprise appearance of Erykah Badu and I LIVED!!! Erykah really inspires me. Her appearance felt like the arrival of The Priestess and changed the whole frequency of the theatre. I was already feeling the healing freaquecy from Andre 3k and his crew, but when Erykah stepped in, I knew we were stepping into a whole new timeline of transformation.
It was so admirable to watch them collaborate in that way. It was such a powerful statement without saying a word. These two set such a DIVINE example of love after separation. They were a beautiful reminder that just because things donât work out romantically, doesnât mean that yaâll have to hate each other. These two are a RICH example of doing whatever the fuck you want in this world, without having to adhere to societies rules or preconceptions! Like what Maryam Hasnaa been saying, the NEW relationship templates are HERE!!
There were so many feelings that came up during their performance. after the show, Andre told us that New Blue Sun was making this up on the spot! He told us that everything that they were creating was based off of our collective energy! đ
There was a song that felt just like overcoming anxiety. It subtly took me back to when I first had my son, and how postpartum anxiety would creep in as challenging. I think what made my brain go to anxiety was the sound of a iPhone ringtone coming through the bands music! I was like, thereâs no way they added that, it was pure chaos!
Through out the song, I felt the band progress and later over come the âanxietyâ into victory! It was such a creative reminder that we all go through challenges, and we can push through the discomfort alone but also together in resonance with others. Me and Kyria titled this song, âPostpartum Anxietyâ lol.
Some songs sounded like temples with high walls from the ancient days. Some songs sounded like ancient advanced Atlantean technology. The most prominent soundscape through out the show was the feeling of being in a rainforest. There was even a time where there was a beast lurking in the jungle! It felt primal, yet invigorating. It was like my most ancient of memories could remember a time when man and beast walked along side of each other.
We attended this show on September 22, fall equinox. I love to celebrate entering through the seasonal portals, and this was the perfect ritual to initiation.
After the show, we headed to Elephant East, a chic Thai-Asian fusion spot tucked away in the Harwood area. Shoutout to Kyria for putting me onâI didnât even know this gem existed! Sheâs vegan and always has the best recommendations for new places to try.
I plan on coming back with my boyfriend because the vibe was perfect for a date night. The lighting was dim, the dĂ©cor was giving Thai/Buddhist/Hindi temple, and the food didnât disappoint, either! I started with the beef satay and Vietnamese nems, both delicious. Iâm definitely coming back to try the pad thai and drunken noodles. We arrived just in time for their after-hours happy hour, so we scored some awesome deals while a DJ set the mood with a hip-hop and house music fusion.
