Demon Queen of Mischief đź‘‘
On Friday, I attented my first burlesque show ever with Kyria (https://www.instagram.com/kyria.smith ) and we had such a rockin’, inspiring time together!
I really outdid myself with the Halloween costumes last year, so I had to make sure I did something just as fly this year. For every outing I do in October, I like to have a costume! It' just makes Halloween so much more fun than just one day! Last year, I was a Demon Princess. I took my favorite demon horns from last year and slapped them on this glamourous dress, and that’s when I became the Demon Queen of Mischief right before my eyes! Along with this beautiful golden gown, I rocked golden braids with my skrippa heels! The look came out stellar!
The "Burton Burlesque" was a neo-burlesque show that was a vibrant celebration of creativity and creative expression. Each performance offered a unique take on Tim Burton's iconic characters, merging whimsy with sensuality. The artistry of the performers showcased the art of seduction, as well as dancing and acting skills that so gracefully conveyed complex narratives through movement. I fell in love with the headliner, SweetPea. Her closing performance as Catwoman was exactly the inspiration I needed to begin investing in my own burlesque journey!
Kyria and I received so much love from everyone and I felt right at home with my fellow nerds, misfits, and weirdos!
It was a different story when we pulled up to Moxie’s though!
You would think Moxie’s would be a fun place with how cute it is! But the place literally has no vibes. Open till 2am, why were they playing acoustic pop? Loudly? We need to start calling these places out like this. A top 40 playlist would have been way more suitable than the generic european retail pop they were serving here.
When we arrived, everyone looked confused as to why were serving Halloween looks. Um, hello?? It’s Spooky Season!!
The energy of everyone there was giving “do it for the gram” because while the place was packed full of people, everyone was so dead and empty. The people that came alone to sit at the bar looked despairingly lonely. There were two guys sitting together with their shades on looking just like those podcast bros, emitting that “What do you bring to the table” or “I am the prize” energy. I was so disappointed to realize that people break their necks to rub shoulders with these environments. For what? Ya’ll know what I’m talking about!
I am a true party girl so I know how to have a good time no matter where I go, but if the music is whack, there’s truly nothing I can do. I want better for ya’ll. And if you’re reading this and you like to go to places like that, I want you to think about why lol.
