HALLOWEEN 2023 RECAP - ROOSEVELT
My Halloween was super long this year because I had a costume for every event, every outing I went to! Click here to see what I wore to UTOPIA.
My second costume was a butterfly faerie costume that I put together from my favorite lilac bodysuit, bought some butterfly wings and face jewels from PARTY CITY, and paired with some black fishnet tights! I think I might start shopping at PARTY CITY for my regular clothes! I wore this costume to the Roosevelt show at The Studio at the Factory.
The Roosevelt Show was phenomenal. I went in wanting to hear “Night Moves”, “Moving On”, “Luna” and “Sign”. I got to hear all of that and more live and center stage and it really exceeded my expectations.
What I love about Roosevelt is his music is that it’s so groovy. I feel like he’s one of the few dance and electronic artists out who’s disco sound is not forced or corny. I believe or the most part, he keeps it simple, and doesn’t overcomplicate things. And honestly, I love that as a white boy, he’s really authentic with his disco sound, and it doesn’t sound forced like Bruno Mars for example, who has been channeling a retro sound but is so corny to me!
“Ordinary Love” is the opening title track for Roosevelt’s new album “Embrace”, and while I wasn’t crazy about it at first, I absolutely fell in love with the song at the show. I’m so glad my friend Grishby recorded it because I was too busy screaming and jumping around.
Roosevelt’s show ended with a encore and when he and his band came back, they closed the night with “Night Moves” that sent me to outerspace!
Seeing Roosevelt live was truly an experience and was very inspiring for me.
